I’m K.L. Alto. For more than a decade I ghostwrote in deep tech, turning breakthrough research into proposals, briefings, and presentations that non-technical funders understood and acted on. Alongside that work I trained as an artist: a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in New Genres and Fine Art with a concentration in critical theory. My award-winning practice in analog illustration extends into design, words, and music, and includes a published art book, illustrations for books by other authors, and recordings.
Tangerone House is where those two lines of work meet. The writer finds the point of view, the critical thinker asks what it means, and the designer gives it a form people recognize.
Why a house.
A house, in the sense of a publishing or fashion house, has a signature, a standard, and a hand you can recognize in everything it releases. Every engagement here is made with that care, from the first conversation to the last detail of the style guide.
How I work.
Every project begins with listening. I look for the idea at the center of the work, then give it an order a reader can follow: what to understand first, what to cut so the core concept carries full weight, and a form that makes it memorable. The same method carries a research proposal to a review panel and a brand to its audience.
